Christians can show their decency even in the most dire of times, they may be fallible as the rest of us but at heart they take no joy in harming their fellow man. I’m not an emotional bloke. But I balled my eyes out during this scene. All those young men, they had no quarrel with one another. In any other circumstances they could have been friends and for one night and day they were. And then the officers ordered them back to the trenches to start killing each other again… What a despicable waste. So many young men thrown in to the grinder for nought. So many lives lost to the petty squabbles of Kings.

No generation should have to suffer war, but as long as humanity keeps multiplying and striving to take from others it will never stop. I am German and have had to endure quite some punishment at school having grown up in London in the 80's yet I bear the English no ill will.
